So you think your tart’s a bit special do ya? Does your custard bring all the boys to the yard? Well now’s your chance to show us all! It’s the Inaugural #TartOff – a bonafide custard tart competition of absurd & delicious proportions.

THE RULES

The rules are simple. We attempted to split the tarts into categories but there just seemed no way of separating styles without angering one camp or another. Passions run high in Tartdom! So enter any style you want; Traditional English, Portugese, Hong Kong, French or any crazy hybrid combo you like.

The only requirement is that the two main ingredients are pastry and egg. All other ingredients and methods are open to personal taste and interpretation. Store bought ingredients will be allowed but they must be declared and deductions will be made (hint: make it from scratch if you wanna win!!)

The competition is open to anyone who wishes to take part. There are no entry fees and event attendance is also free. To keep it fair on the amateurs, however, we are going to be judging them separately from the professionals. Not sure which one you fit into? If you work in a food service position or have had formal culinary training then you must enter as a professional. Everyone else is free to enter the amateur category. Or if you’re an amateur and fancy your chances against the pros, feel free to enter that one too!
